Cream cheese substitute!
I like to strain my creme fraiche through a cotton cloth and then whip it with some sweetener, salt, vanilla, and homemade sour cream for a delicious 'cream cheese' frosting for cake! It's great to know it's good cultured milk instead of being refined!

Wonderful!
In our small town, Creme Fraiche is only available for the the holidays. And the price is eye popping. I decided to try these culture packets. Starting a batch is quick and easy. Just heat half and half or whipping cream to 86 degrees, add culture, mix well, cover and let sit on the counter overnight. I can make a quart for less than the cost of a half pint and it is delicious with such a nice texture. My neighbors think I am a genius.

Cream Fraiche Starter Culture
So easy to make. Heat the milk up to 86 deg F, then sprinkle the culture powder over the surface. Wait 2 minutes and stir it in. Keep warm for about 8 hours and voila it‘s done. I put it in a colander lined with several layers of cheese cloth and let drip for about 6 hours. The taste is mild creaminess, not sour like yogurt. I love it on cereal instead of milk. Add some cream to the milk at the start and bring it to another level. WOW!
