Eureka Oro Mignon Single Dose Pro

Mostly Pleased

While I'm happy overall with the Eureka Single Dose Pro and the core of the grinder is solid, there are some areas in which I'm a little disappointed. First and foremost, the grinding is fine, but not much of an upgrade over my DF54. However, after a few years (and lots of grinds), the reliability of the DF54 became a question. I'm sure that won't be the case with the SDP. I use a lot of a different beans and the SDP does handle them reasonably well, but I haven't noticed much of an improvement in flavor. I suppose they are both flat burr grinders and so may not be a lot of difference there. But I was hoping for more than just an improvement in reliability. It has some questionable engineering decisions in the area of usability. I realize the power involved, but that said, it's louder than I would have expected or preferred. The king-size dial works well, but the bean hopper lever is now completely tucked behind it making it awkward to access. It's also a bit messier than I would have expected. The slot for the bean lever shoots out a few grounds every use, especially when using the bellows. And the dosing cup lid creates a little vortex when using the bellows that shoots ground out the back. It's a minor thing but I like my espresso workspace to be clean. Overall I'm happy with the purchase, and Whole Latte Love is great, so no complaints there! And I got this at a great price.
