MiiCoffee DF54 Single Dose Coffee Grinder

New to Grinding

I am new to grinding my own beans after many years using pre-ground. The DF54 was highly recommended in reviews, specifically for espresso, which I use mainly for lattes. Pros: - Solid, well built high quality construction - Bellows system works well to remove retained grounds - Consistent results and great tasting shots with a variety of beans Cons - Included pointer is a joke, $8 MiCoffee upgrade is also worthless and should be white to contrast against black dial. Had to spend more on 3rd party solution. - Dial is very hard to turn and requires 2 hands to position precisely. - Included plastic dosing cup retains grounds and does not fit 54mm Breville portafilters and no solution is offered by MiCoffee. Again I had to invest in a 3rd party. solution.

DF-54 is the perfect upgrade

I've lived with my new DF-54 for a week now, and it's pretty life changing when it comes to my coffee workflow. I typically drink light to medium roasts, and I've had zero issues so far. I'm coming from a E1zpresso JX-Pro, which worked fine as far as it goes. The time and effort to grind for an espresso was a factor, as was the noise. I've noticed that the ease and speed of the DF54 means I don't hesitate to brew an espresso . It's relatively quite too. The real gamechanger is the uniformity of the grind. With the stepless adjustments, it took very little effort to dial in my beans for the perfect shot. I find that the ring is easier to turn with the motor running. I've also used it to brew pour overs, but I need to play with it a bit more to be sure I'm getting the clarity of flavors I'm looking for. Adjusting back and forth, though, couldn't be easier. Again, the uniformity of grind means I get more consistent brewing. I use the RDT on my beans before feeding them gradually into a hot start. I have almost no static, especially since I swapped out the plastic dosing cup for a white enamel-coated metal one from Normcore that matches the esthetic of the white DF54. I had to wait a few weeks to get the white grinder, but it was well worth the wait to fit our kitchen. Between the bellows and the included brush, clogging has been a non-issue. I ran about a pound of old beans through the grinder before I stated using it, with zero issues. My only regret is not buying one sooner.

Love it so far

I got the grinder about a week ago and I'm very happy with it so far. The stepless grind dial is really nice, it does take two hands to move it but it didn't take long for me to dial in the right grind size for my espresso machine. It's smaller than I though it would be and not as heavy as I expected. It sits comfortably next to my espresso machine. It is loud but it grinds very fast, I'm hopeful this will last me a long time.
