Nice basic sharpening kit

This is a nice beginners sharpening kit (which I am one). I have used it to sharpen 3 knives so far and it has done the job for my amateur attempts. The only thing lacking is a leveling plate, but at the price (on sale) I can buy that separately. I would recommend this for beginners and I am sure that it would last until they become proficient.

It's beautiful! I'm not a fan of the big bulky alternatives out there and I'm quite pleased with this brand.

I own a set of Shapton water stones so I compare the Yaxell's to that set of stones. Not a good idea. I purchased these as my Shaptons are in storage. The Shaptons are far superior as they cut faster--so fewer strokes required--and the sound is beautiful to listen to as the knife crosses the stone. But they also cost 2-3x more. As I go through my knife kit--a number (20?) of German and Japanese knives large and small, I am getting used to the Yaxells and think they may have more to offer than I currently experience. Great price and great service from CnM.
