The versatile pickup I never knew I needed
The Tonerider Rebel 90 has become one of the most impressive and genuinely inspiring pickups I’ve ever installed. It’s the rare kind of P‑90 that manages to be hot, dynamic, articulate, and incredibly versatile without ever losing its character. What makes it special is how effortlessly it moves between roles. It’s hot enough for driven tones, with a punch and clarity that cuts through a mix almost like a great Tele bridge. Yet when you roll the volume back, it becomes mellow, sweet, and beautifully articulate, with far more dynamic nuance than a standard single coil. The treble bleed keeps everything intact, so the cleanup feels natural and musical. One of the biggest surprises is how well it mixes with a middle single coil. You still get that glassy, technical clean tone, but with an added warmth and fullness that a Strat pickup alone can’t deliver. It’s the best of both worlds — sparkle with substance. The tone control response is equally impressive. Roll it back slightly and the Rebel 90 shifts into a darker, moodier voice without ever turning muddy. It’s as flexible as a coil‑split humbucker, but with arguably better clean tones and a far more expressive feel. I’m enjoying it so much in the bridge that I’m now committed to buying the matching Rebel 90 for the neck — the idea of blended neck/bridge P‑90 tones from this set feels like it could be genuinely sublime. This year alone I’ve bought ten Tonerider pickups, replacing almost everything in my electric guitars. The Rebel 90 is a perfect example of why: outstanding tone, smart design, and unbeatable value for money. Tonerider has absolutely earned a fan in me.

Excellent
I upgraded a PRS SE Custom with a set of Rebel 90 pickups. I have always been a huge fan of P-90's and these pickups did not disappoint. Clear and punchy, with great warmth and definition. Sweet when you need them to be, and an absolute terror when driven. I ended up donating the guitar to a young man on our youth worship team, and he is totally ecstatic. Outstanding pickups!

Rebel neck position
Replaced Duncan 59 in neck position in a Les Paul with a Rebel 90. Tried swapping magnets in 59 , but was just too muddy. The tonerider sounds really good. Was like taking a blanket off amp. I have a variety of their pickups in four of my guitars and they never disappoint.
