A Proper Telecaster Pickup Set

I’ve been upgrading a Squier Affinity Telecaster over time, and installing the Vintage Plus set was the final step that turned it into a real Telecaster. The first thing that impressed me was the quality. The pickups arrived in excellent packaging, everything was neatly organized and well protected. The pickups themselves look and feel like quality parts. The materials, finish and overall construction are far better than what you would expect at this price point. I especially liked the bridge pickup with its proper copper-plated steel baseplate. It looks authentic and gives confidence that attention was paid to the details. As for the sound, these pickups deliver exactly what I was hoping for. The bridge pickup has the classic Tele bite, twang and clarity without becoming harsh. The neck pickup is warm, smooth and musical, but never muddy. The middle position has that unmistakable Telecaster character that works beautifully for clean and edge-of-breakup tones. I also use a 4-way switch, and the series position adds a surprising amount of fullness and power while still retaining the Tele personality. What impressed me most is that these pickups don’t feel like a budget compromise. They simply sound like a great Telecaster should sound. If you’re looking for a vintage-style Tele set with excellent build quality, authentic looks and genuine Tele tone, I can highly recommend the Vintage Plus set. Excellent work, Tonerider.

Tonerider Vintage Plus pickups

I just rebuilt my 40 year old custom built Telecaster. I installed Tonerider Vintage Plus bridge and neck pickups,based on recommendations. I wasn't disapointed..I requested the 4 way switch option. The bridge/neck 'in series' position is great, such a fat and full sound.Very pleased with this choice of pickups, great value at that price.I would definately use Toneriders in future builds.
