I quickly learned that, although I owned a great ilFornino 14" perforated stainless steel pizza peel, and no matter how careful I was, I wasn't quick enough to prevent dough sticking to the stainless steel peel prior to or during launching (my second pie dough ever half-fell into the oven, so I had to abort the bake). That's when I searched the web for the best wooden pizza peel after learning the mantra -- "for a home pizza baker, a wooden peel is for shaping, topping, and launching; a stainless steel peel is for rotating the pizza in the oven, transferring the pie from one pizza steel to another steel, and retrieving the pie" -- and even Amazon's Rufus/Alessa AI confessed that Baking Steel's cherry wood pizza peels were better than what Amazon carried in their inventory. Amazon had only one square-shaped cherry wood peel, and it was only 12 inches. I am delighted I went with Baking Steel's 14" cherry wood pizza peel, which I used today to make a pie using 2 steels: the original Baking Steel and the Modernist Cuisine Special edition steel (both 14" deep, 16" wide). Using Baking Steel Company's round shape 14" Cherry Wood Pizza Peel has allowed me to EASILY shape (almost) perfectly round pizzas that launch easily onto my bottom Modernist Cuisine peel. And I mean, EASILY! No more square pizzas (not that they're bad) and no more stuck dough!!!

Product is as described and good quality. I am looking forward to making pizza on my new baking steel. Only 4 stars since original shipment did not have the pizza peel inside and it requires multiple emails/phone calls before customer service responded.

It is the perfect size. Plus, the beveled edge makes it super easy to slide the pizza onto the baking steel. A little flour and you’re on your way!
