The roller gummed up and stopped rolling reliably. Disassembled, cleaned the gunk out, oiled and reassembled. Works great again. Was impressed by the design and manufacturing as I was taking apart.

Initial Impressions

My initial feedback after sharpening an iron for my Stanley No. 45: - Setup getting the blade clamped into position is a bit fussy, but found that by holding the guide sort of sideways with my fingers straddling the clamp, and holding the blade against the stops from both sides, it makes clamping the blade in place pretty easy. - The thickness of the blade I sharpened was 1/8", and I found that the ends of the thumbscrews protruded below the roller, so ended up honing a bit of a bevel on the ends of the screws before I realized what was happening. I solved the problem by putting several washers under the heads of the thumbscrews to reduce their protrusion on the bottom of the guide. - The honed edge of my blade is dead square, so very happy about that. Overall, works as advertised.

Sharp for the first time

I have struggled with sharpening chisels and plane blades. I have tired multiple techniques and jigs. none ever worked for me. This jig, literally, changed all of that for me. Not to sound like a cliche, but this jig changed all of that for me. For me and my workflow i love this jig.
