Thin Rip Table Saw Jig

This thin rip jig is awesome!

I saw a review of this jig and purchased immediately. I do a lot of thin rips for cutting boards and this jig makes the process so much safer and more efficient. Heartily recommended!

I'd give it a 5 with a couple of upgrades

I definitely was in the market for a thin strip jig and after looking at a few on and and also thinking about making one myself, Ii settled on the the KM Tools product. I really like the way it is made regarding fit and finish and it does work very well, with a bit of fiddling. This brings me to my review's Title. There are two things that I find upgrade worthy in the design. First, the fact that both the sliding arm and the miter slot bar are both controlled by the same knob, inherently adds a bit of variance to setting up the required thickness due to loose fit in the miter slot by the base. If the base could be locked in the slot and then the arm moved forward to gently kiss the blade tooth, it would pretty well set up confirmation that the thickness gap will be accurate. I use setup blocks to get the exact gap I need and would like the base firm in the slot. That brings me to my second upgrade: The gradations on the arm are basically cosmetic since there is no movable pointer to set the gap measure variants due to blade thickness changes. If an adjustable plastic bezel or metal pointer were added, once the bearing touched the took, the pointer could then be set a "0" tic mark and the remaining engraved tic marks used to set the gap required. Other wise, the tic marks are pretty and well executed, but of little value for accuracy. This is a great product and certainly is made with care and quality materials. Just a couple of design upgrades would make it stand out in the tool community.
