AmScope LED-56S Compact Illuminator Ring Light LED Light Source

Very well made and capable budget microscope

I had previously used AmScope's stereo microscope in a professional environment and was very pleased. However this purchase was for personal (budget) use and therefore I chose the least expensive model. Least expensive doesn't mean cheap. The scope is sturdily built, the base heavy and stable. The light ring is superb. The image quality is quite good with no sign of chromatic aberration as seen in lower budget optics. The focus is adjusted, like all scopes by changing the distance from the specimen from the lens. Since this is a budget scope, the adjustment is made by flexing the steel goose neck, which is a little cumbersome. I am not complaining, this is a budget scope after all, and a precision geared drive would have added significantly to the cost and weight. My only complaint is the binocular's pupil distance adjustment range is on the tight side for my eyes. This is not this particular scope's fault, I have had the same problem with other binoculars.

The product arrived in good shape. It adapted perfectly to my stereoscope. Good light to see bugs.
