Installed perfectly in my MTD Z4. Whisper quiet and sounds perfect. Love the APSW. I am left handed. Only gripe is make left handed pots. But that’s minor and I’ll survive.

Bartolini HR5.2AP/918 Preamp

For reference, this preamp was installed into an ESP LTD B-205SM FL (wired for 9V and with the preamp gain unity matched to the pickups), along with a Bartolini M45CBC pickup set (each pickup wired in parallel) and tuned to B-E-A-D-G using D'Addario ECB81-5 strings. With this particular instrument, pickups, tuning and string set, the preamp performed very well and complimented the pickup's overall tone, without masking their core character. All three EQ controls have usable ranges from center position, though I would be careful when boosting the bass EQ control to max or close to max. That said, I imagine wiring the preamp to use 18V would most likely alleviate any clipping issues that result from maxing out any of the EQ controls. Overall, I am very satisfied with the HR5.2AP/918 preamp and would purchase one again in the future.

New Preamp

This is my first purchase with Fat Bass Tone but it definitely won't be my last. Excellent customer service, fast shipping, and good prices. It's good to have a solid place to shop for bass gear.
