Stone is very rough and porous making it way less pleasant to use than the other Gesshin stones. All the other Gesshin stones I have are fantastic! I understand its very course grit but I did try a Shapton Glass and it is a much better cutting experience thus far.

My go-to stone for thinning
Wears fast, cuts even faster. The scratches are pretty deep, but they clean up quickly with a quality 400 grit stone. Using this stone also gives you a good idea of how your stone will tend to wear, since it wears so fast. I like to thin ambidextrously to help even out the wear, and I also recommend marking the corners of the stone in increments (every 5mm or so) so you can see how level your stone is staying, and where you need to focus your wear.
