K9 ultra with GSD fantastic
The product is outstanding, the customer service is outstanding. Before you introduce e-collars please make sure your dog is completely trained on a 6ft and 30ft leash and they understand the basics and recall while on the leash. I end my training with my GSD dragging around the 30ft, then the 6ft, then I remove the leash and work on recall. This is where the e collar excels, at that little added pressure to get them to remember they need to listen. I use mine a little different, I wanted the beep to be recall, the vibrate as a correction and honestly I have never needed the shock, so I removed the prongs. For the first week, my GSD just wore the collar with his other so he didn't learn or associate what did what and I alter on and off, I alter one or the other sometimes. First week, while on the 30ft, recall command and one beep, over and over, of course with a few minutes between each. Once he learned the beep meant come, same thing with the vibrate. Started out at 1, kept moving up one value until I got to a setting he responded to and would stop doing the bad behavior. We still leash training first every day, then we e collar work. It is a fantastic product and a fantastic finishing tool if started out correctly, used correctly, and you don't abuse the animal. It is that added pressure from a distance to remind. Mostly, it's going to be the owner needing more training.
The one complaint would be the button locked feature. I wish, if pressed, it would lock the front face buttons leaving the side available for use. Press it twice, locks the front and shock leaving beep and vibrateto use. Right now, locking everything isn't helpful when i need to quickly recall or correct if the remote is in my pocket.
