Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Yeah!
10:34 - FedEx driver delivers Pirastro Obligato Violin Rosin. 10:36 - Skeptically rosined my Coda Marquise Escher violin bow. 10:37 - Got sucked into 20 minutes of unscheduled practice. 10:57 - Local police show up due to neighbor complaints about my loud whooping and hollering. Okay, I made the last part up...sort of. I've been a viola player for a bit and took up violin just three months ago. I use a very expensive brand of rosin on both my violin and viola bows. I have Pirastro Obligato strings on my violin and, to be perfectly honest, bought the rosin just to go over $100 on my Fiddlershop order and get the free FedEx shipping (I figured I could risk $14, and the reviews were very favorable). HOLY SMOKES! What a difference! The string "grippiness" is perfect, and the sound of my violin is BEAUTIFUL. I wasn't experienced enough to understand how much of a difference rosin could make in the instrument's tone. I'm genuinely amazed at the HUGE difference in how my violin sounds. Warm, resonant, and lovely. I'm now officially a rosin snob! STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. As always, the Fiddlershop's customer service is the best in the industry. They're not just incredibly helpful; they're really good guys.

Compliments Obligato strings nicely
The Obligato rosin adds warmth the the sound of strings. Makes a difference. Now my go to rosin. Strings tend to buildup a coating quickly with this rosin requiring more frequent cleaning. Worth the extra cleaning for the wonderfully warm tones.

Low dust & Rich tone
Lately I have been exploring different rosins with different sets of strings. I saw someplace that this rosin was recommended for use with Violino strings. Preferring a dark tone when I play one of my violins, I figured that I would try out this rosin/string combination. Overall this is a good combination. The rosin itself produces much less dust than basic rosins (D'Addario/generic), or even Hill rosin. I believe that the tone is improved as well. I am uncertain how it would perform on a different string set as I am strictly using it with the Violino set at this point.
