Strings do make a difference

I’m just a beginner, but I do have a decent ear for tone. My fiddle is only a mass produced student model and to my ear it is a bit too bright and even a bit shrill. I wanted a warmer sound. I decided that I would gamble a few dollars to see if I could improve the sound. When I first put the strings on I was astonished by how dark they sounded, but once I played them some they brightened up quite a bit. The result is that my fiddle does indeed have a slightly warmer sound and I am very pleased. My teacher who is a renowned player tells me that I got lucky with the fiddle that I have and that it really does have a nice tone. I wouldn’t say that these strings will transform your student model instrument in to something that it isn’t, but they do seem to be very good strings and as such can help you make the most of the instrument that you have. I would certainly buy them again.

Very soft and smooth. Great to take the edge off of a bright instrument.

Can't keep in tune

Ordering from Fiddlershop is great. This time I purchased Violino strings because I really wanted that warmer sound and am newer to violin so was interested in low tension and less projection. BUT my A string, installed for a few weeks now still wond hold tune, going flat daily. The rest of the strings seem to be doing better but I wouldn't buy another set.
