Ming Jiang Zhu 905 Violin

Wow. What a great violin.

I had the opportunity to visit Fiddlershop when I was vacationing in Miami in February. At the time, they did not have a 905 in stock, but they had a new 907, a used 907, and a 903 that I played. I also played a few of the Holstein violins. I had a wonderful experience in the showroom. We had traveled just over an hour from Miami (with traffic), and my husband had to use the restroom. While not technically for public, they were very nice and walked my husband back to the restroom. He was able to see the shop and new studio space. He was surprised! He said "wow, I didn't realize people were actually just back there working on instruments"... I looked at him and said "duh. It's not just for show" :). I knew I was not going to be purchasing a violin until late spring as it was a graduation present to myself after completing my Master's degree in my career field. I have played violin from ages 9-24, but then stopped when I went to nursing school, etc. I picked it back up again around Christmas and fell in love with it again. I tried several other violins from local shops, but for a similar sound, I could not get into the price range I wanted to stay in. I kept coming back to the 905. I finally decided to do the in-home trial of the 905 with the Holstein 3* bow. The moment I took it out of the box, I was hooked. I played my heart out on it! I really got a chance to open it up and get to know it. Immediately, it was easy to play. It had the warmth I was looking for, but still bright in the higher registers. While the bow isn't the right bow for me, the violin felt like mine the moment I put it under my chin. The in home trial process was extremely easy! I have a lot of room to grow with this violin. It came with dominant strings, which are perfectly fine, but may switch out for another Thomastik set soon to see what this thing can do. I highly recommend Fiddlershop. From the customer service, to the buying process, I never felt like just another e-mail. Thank you so much!
