Beautiful instrument

I'm not going to pretend to be a good enough violinist to tell you all the ins and outs of the instrument because I most certainly am not qualified to do so. What I can tell you as an unexperienced player is that the instrument is a delight to play with a very rich tone. I am moving from a roughly $500 student violin of another brand and the difference is night and day. The strings are more responsive both to the bow and to the touch, the bridge shape makes playing much less error prone, and the tone is miles better. Dealing with Fiddlershop was exactly as advertised and hassle free.

Holstein Traditional Red Mendelssohn - very positive experience

My overall experience with Fiddlershop was very positive and I'd highly recommend them. They were responsive both via email and phone. Everyone I spoke with was informative and customer-focused. I was undecided between a few models and they were kind enough to make a youtube video with high resolution audio so I could not only see the actual violins I'd be getting, but also hear the differences side by side. This is a fantastic differentiating factor and makes purchasing an instrument online a far better experience. My daughter has been playing 3.5 years and was previously using a 3/4 size instrument, so it was time for a full-size. We're very happy with the Holstein Traditional Red Mendelssohn. Aesthetically, the flamed maple back and sides are beautiful coupled with the slightly reddish stain. The violin has a smooth, rich and resonant tone with harmonic complexity. We also purchased a pernambuco bow and case - a very nice overall set. Would highly recommend this violin and fiddlershop.
