Description
66 days. Charmant is suited to close plantings, forming solid, 3–4 pound, blue-green heads that are 6–8 inches across. They will stand for weeks in the garden without splitting. Great for slaw or kraut. We especially like Charmant with a bit of lemon juice and roasted pine nuts tossed in melted butter. HR: YR, tip burn.

Germination
This is my first planting of this variety of cabbage. I planted the seeds in a raised planter at the beginning of August hoping for a an Autumn harvest. I had excellent germination and the plants are growing great. My only concern is our weather. We’ve had a hotter than normal August but the plants are tolerating it well.

Charmant cabbage
Several weeks ago I planted cabbage for the second time, because the first batch didn’t germinate. I reordered two varieties, including Charmant. Sadly I have had a very low germination rate! Only four seeds out of more than two dozen have sprouted. I’m not sure if it was the seed, or if it is simply too warm. We have never had such difficulty growing cabbages.

Favorite Cabbage
This variety is my favorite but in all honesty, I have not tried the others. I have grown Charmant for many years.
