Great Color Combo

As with all Ellington fountain pen, this is another great writer. i was intrigued by the color. The description says that the colors are bronze and red. It's a nice looking pen, but the red is not the bright red I would have expected. In fact, to my eye it sometimes looks a little like orange to me, and I find that color (whatever it is) pleasing to my eye. The bronze cap makes a nice contrast to the red/orange barrel. Great color choice, Ellington!

Great pens but…

I’d give Ellington Pens about 3 stars overall. First, the positives: the pens themselves are solid. I own one and use it almost daily. It’s reliable, comfortable to write with, and the nib performs well enough for everyday writing. The nibs are good and consistent, but I wouldn’t say they’re exceptional compared to other pens in the same broader fountain pen world. Where things fall short for me is in the selection of pen bodies. The designs available just don’t offer much variety or personality if you’re someone who appreciates the craftsmanship and aesthetic diversity that exists across higher-end fountain pens. My biggest issue, though, is the marketing. Some of the advertising feels a bit disingenuous, especially for people who are newer to fountain pens. There are a lot of real differences between entry-level steel-nib pens and true luxury pens—materials, nib craftsmanship, filling systems, and finishing—and the way Ellington frames their products can blur those distinctions in a way that feels misleading. That said, the pen I own is still a good daily writer. If the marketing were more transparent about where these pens really sit in the fountain pen market, I’d probably feel much better about the brand. With more honest positioning, this could easily be a 5-star product experience for the right buyer.
