Balloon sleeve dress

I liked the pattern and it was quite easy to sew. Only the balloon parts needed some thinking to get the pieces in right direction. Different sleeve options was a good plus. I wanted to make balloon sleeves, but didn’t have enough fabric. So I made a sleeveless dress with attachable and replaceable sleeves. Unfortunately I forgot to match the pattern in front seam. Also the fabric I used in the balloon version was too thin, so instead of balloons it turned out more like hanging pouches. In addition to the decrease of waist width I had to decrease other seams too.

I absolutely love everything about this pattern. I had been looking for a pattern to wear to a family wedding and this was just perfect. The balloon sleeves really add a touch of drama and for me they were definitely the icing on the cake. As usual the clear and detailed pattern instructions made the construction process straightforward and enjoyable.

I found the seam allowance too small. I am used to 1.5cm and found it difficult to adjust. i really liked the style and the proportions. it is a very useful pattern, I intend to open the front and make a collarless coat with dramatic sleeves also. next time I will use the high bust measurement as i found it overall a little too big, although the seaming definitely allows for adjustment. I also bought linen and i think it will look stunning in linen for my second dress make.
