Wonderful knife
This is a great knife. I liked mine so much I bought 3 more as gifts to my grown grandchildren for their kitchens. It’s well balanced therefore always in control as you use it. It is an excellent all purpose knife.

An heirloom quality workhorse as the core of your kitchen knives!
My best friend just moved, and she was binned her old knife set. I took one look at what she had, and I couldn’t let her endure stamped junk any longer! In steps the Wüsthof Ikon line! And not just any Ikon! One with a gorgeous cream handle. I have used Ikon knives for 12 years now, so I had to share the love. What better way than with the centerpiece of any knife set? The chef’s knife what’s the perfect starting point for my friend’s new cutlery experience! Everything about it is perfect from the weight to the design to the manufacture. The fact that this was on sale is just gravy. She isn’t very knowledgeable on knives, but she kept saying that this knife in her old knives were worlds apart. This is the kind of knife that you hang on to for decades. I have no question that she’ll maintain it well, but it’s also not a knife that needs special care beyond handwashing and drying. The blade keeps its sharpness with ease, and it is no slouch when it comes to really any task. If you see this on sale, jump on it. Even if you don’t, this is honestly a great starting point for anyone’s knife collection, and it’s a piece they should keep for life. Heck, they probably will pass it on to their children!

Very nice
This knife is appealing to my eye. It appears luxurious and "satiny." As a proud owner of numerous Japanese handcrafted knives I wanted to mix things up. The knife in my hand feels excellent. All edges are smoothly polished and the choil fits perfect using a pinch grip. The handle is girthy and gently curved for a great fit. The blade is shaped perfectly for push cutting and rocking. The blade sharpness is consistent from tip to heel and is sharp. I've used it cut up a whole chicken, I used it to cut vegetables for a soffritto and have chopped herbs. It made quick work of all the food. Is it heavier than good Japanese gyuto knives? Yes. But I didn't mind. I loved the different "feel." I highly recommend.
