Why surprised? Because this is a truly beautiful knife. Who would have thought that a fancy spreader would actually be so versatile. As with the other Shun knifes I have purchased, this is no exception. A work of art. I almost don't want to use it because I don't want anything to happen to it. LoL The blade is razor sharp. The handle fits perfectly in my hand. The wood shines with a sparkle. So well made You can't go wrong with this knife.
