It sharpens!
Fits into a knife roll great and sharpens well. I did loose the hook ring quite quickly however through wear and tear, though it’s not a problem for me personally.

The only hone you will need!
First of all cermamic is way better than steel for my purposes.
Socndly, the black color won't show small pieces of metal that come off. My white ceramic shows a lot of dirt. This one does not.
Lastly, this works on both German and Janapnese knives. The smooth side can be used for Japanese knifes and the textured part works great on German knives. This works great for me because my collection is a mixture of German and Japanese knives.

Yes, but...
The rod seems to be good quality, and the handle isn't bad, but the plastic ring thing for hanging it seems very cheap and flimsy. That seems out of place and not up to the usual MAC quality. I'm still happy with it overall, just that one piece bugs me. This is a finer grit ceramic compared to my honing steel so it works well for touching up my finer edge knives or to use as a second step after the steel.
