Upton Dress & Skirt Plus Mix & Match Expansion Pack PDF pattern

It fits! My measurements are HB 37, FB 44, W 36, H 44

I used the princess style with short sleeves and pleated skirt. I made a mock up first of the bodice (always a challenge to fit) . Cashmerette advised using a 12 G/H then making a 2" FBA. I used the 12 for the chest/shoulder and used the 16 G/H for the width. I had to scoop out the top front to the bust point, but it worked. I had some other challenges. I had a 1 yard piece and a 3 yard piece of fabric that had to be matched. (A horizontal book shelf design). Taking my time, I made it work. I also added 2 rows of bias binding on the waistband, because it looked like it needed just a little something. I wore the dress to a fundraiser for our library and received a lot of compliments. I am making another dress to wear next week. Since I now have a fitted pattern, it will be a snap to make up. I have at least 2 more to make before October.

Upton + Gilmore = happiness

I made the sleeveless princess seam version of the Upton dress with the Gilmore skirt. Definitely, definitely make a muslin for this dress to verify bust fit, but the pattern instructions are very clear and the dress went together easily once I finished my bust adjustment (lowered the bust apex and adjusted the curve above the full bust). Looking at the photo, I should have also shortened the bodice a smidge, but I didn't notice that when I made the muslin (too focused on getting the bust right). Overall really, really happy with the result, and I already have another planned!

Best for Bust

This is the only pattern that I have found to properly accommodate my bust size. I have made several of these dresses in quilting cotton prints and am pleased with the results. The only thing for me is that the armscye and bicep can be a bit tight, even on the plus size sleeve, but that might just be a fit issue for me. I often make the sleeveless v-neck version with princess seams in size 16G/H to layer over button down shirts for work. I noticed that the size 18 plus size sleeve fit, but when I lost weight and sized down to the 16, the body fit, but the arm was too tight. When I make the 16, I usually cut the armscye a bit deeper at the side seam (about 3/4") and sew as usual. This gives me enough room :) For the average person with large bust needs, I recommend this pattern!
