I have a very small apartment and this works great! Just be aware, if you aren't strong (like me) and it takes you a few tries to hook it, you will scuff the wall.

Compact, elegant, and simple bike rack

Having a vertical rack has some nice advantages. One is that it is easy to install -- both mounting screws go into the same wall stud. This isn't so easy with horizontally mounted racks. Vertical racks also take up far less wall space. I have three mounted side-by-side in my garage and it is nice and tidy.
