Perfect for urban gardening
I'm in the Phoenix area and have grown these in-ground and in my first year garden beds. The roots are wonderful at breaking up the soil and enriching the area, birds love the seeds, bees love the blooms, and I can use the stalks as trellising both while they're growing and after they're dried and cut down. A favorite that I now use every year.
