Best squash - hearty and delicious!
I’ve grown this in Tempe, and now in Salt Lake City (at 4,500’ elevation) during our hot dry summers (85-100F). It tolerates both conditions well and produces stunning squash on prolific vines. The flesh is dense, orange, and has a lovely sweet/savory quality. Here in Salt Lake City, I grow it over a trellis that spans a walkway. The vines need a bit of training at first, and then happily comply. Squash bugs are a big problem for us. Diligent hand removal (courtesy of our 5 year old) plus application of diatomaceous earth around the base of each plant did the trick. It’s extra work, but this variety is still the only one that can stand up to the bugs (with our help).
