Porcelain is a time-tested, easy-to-use mixing surface for watercolor and gouache. Unlike plastic, glazed porcelain allows the paint to spread evenly across the surface, so you can get a better look at the color you're mixing. The nonporous glaze also prevents staining and makes porcelain dishes easy to clean.

Love the design. Dried watercolors rejuvenate with just a light spritz. I love to create colors and shades in an empty space and easily renew without having to reblend the colors and hope for a match !
The weight of the egg crate is heavy enough not to slip or break yet light enough to easily transport. I put apiece of double sided tape on a small area on the bottom so it doesnt move while I am mixing or moving my portable painting desk.
The crate washes clean with just soap and eater.
Such a fan I gifted two to artist friends!
