Balance of elegance and playability

I've wanted a tournament set made of wood for a while now, but I found sets that were either too elegant/expensive to feel comfortable using, or sets that were so basic they were ugly to me. This set strikes the balance: it's very pleasant to look at and yet feels durable. I'm not concerned about the pieces being handled or dropped. (Having the ability to buy replacement pieces adds to the piece of mind). I only have two minor points to nitpick. 1) I think more weight in the pieces would be ideal. 2) I believe the king is taller than necessary or desirable compared to the rest of the pieces. Visually it looks unbalanced, and I've already seen players accidentally hit the king when reaching for other pieces.

A Very Nice Set

Not just a nice set for the price point, but a nice set period, It will replace my plastic OTB Tournament set.
