Perfect for using when you drop your overnight pack at camp or whatever to do a day walk or side trip. Have the Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil but for me this is the better unit. More robust, better pockets and critically has a chest strap. An extra 18g heavier but that doesn't really matter in the scheme of things - more than worth it.

Is as described. Material is strong. Chest straps lock a heavy load into place. Good volume. Bottle holders work well. The only negative is something that could easier be redesigned. The pocket that the bag folds into is at the top of the pack, I use it for small items like a wallet and other small things. This means that when the bag is empty it can't stay upright like my Kathmandu lightweight backpack, where the foldaway pocket is at the bottom of the pack. The only reason I didn't go for another one of those is because it doesn't have external water bottle holders. Overall I'm happy with it.
