This is undoubtedly expensive and may not be for everyone. However, I don’t mind spending little extra to add a quality item to my sharping kit. I currently have 23 stones and a few quality stone holders including the heavy Shapton. This pond along with the Shapton holder makes for a system that stays put and contains the messiness of whetstones.

I needed the Shapton Sharpening Pond for sharpening my knives chisels and plain blades. The pond holds the stone holder and stone perfectly and does not move while your sharpening sharp objects. Would definitely recommend this to anybody that wants to rehone the edges of there Knives chisels or plane blades.
