Timberline Tower Problem

Great, if you can leave them where you put them.
The landing pad was the pinnacle of the development from method for attaching your rack to your car. In lieu of having some kind of landing pads that can attach to the cargo rails on your SUV, these things are good enough. Pros: they attach your bars to the top of your car in a sturdy manner. Cons: they take a LOT of adjusting/fiddling when you want to put them on take them off. You younger readers may not mind making 100 turns of an allen wrench while torqueing down a rack, but if you live to get old, you will. They also do not have the streamlined look of landing pad-mounted racks

Another very well engineered product from Yakima!
Switched up my vehicle and the new one has raised side rails on the roof. So, I ordered the Timberline Towers to use with the JetStream bars that I already owned to set up this vehicle for hauling our whitewater kayaking gear & sea kayaking gear. The system was impressive in its build quality and materials. Easy to install, easy to remove, and the entire system is very, very strong and secure when mounted to the vehicle's raised roof rails. I have no doubt these will do the job and last many years. I transport multiple kayaks and paddles on my roof rack many times per year to paddle whitewater rivers in the eastern US. This system will make it easy to bring everything along securely to the river.
I also noted how quiet the rack system was on the highway. I was actually expecting more wind noise, but it is very smooth and quiet at speed.
