OPENROAD Aluminum Truck Cap with Three-Color Light

So far so good. I have a 3G Tacoma. I previously had a Softopper and Victory 4x4 steel rack. After a few years the steel rack started to rust and needed repairs and the Softopper was never really fully weather proof or secure. The plastic windows fogged quickly. So having a solid cap with glass windows and locks seemed like a nice upgrade. I wish I had sealed my truck bed prior to install. The only place I get water is through gaps in the truck bed itself. Overall I like the look and feel of the truck cap. I sealed it more than recommended with the provided instructions. One dislike would be the "built in lighting". Not being built in and being just a small LED light was less than ideal. When wired to the stock truck bed lighting harness the Openroad lighting defaults as "off" so you will need to turn it on every time. The button provided is less than ideal too. Cycling through the light options also starts at Red > white > amber. Regardless when you unlock the truck the light is "off". This may not be an issue for everyone but I'm going to use a $20 LED kit from Amazon instead that will/ should work by simply unlocking the doors and operate the same as the stock bed lighting.

Needed more room than just 5ft of bed space when camping in northern Michigan. This worked, everything stays dry and we literally doubled what we can carry. Before assembly I used the tube of sealant on all mating surfaces. I did this when the temperature was about 85 deg, even at that temp I had plenty of time to assemble. I installed a hoist on three of the joists in my building, brought it down nice and slow, very smooth. I like it, the pictures were after I took it for a test run to see if it rattled or made weird noises, it didn't.

Love the truck cap. Not so much the service. Tracking the shipment was impossible. Getting info about the shipment from Openroad was pointless. Their notifications were equally as pointless. Don't believe anything you read about shipping "the next day after you place your order". There's no way you could possibly know that. My order took a few days short of a month to get here. But I was pretty happy when it did get here.
