Hey, so chairs cost a lot? I was unaware when researching replacements for my corporate throne whilst sitting upon the hard, sad chair I've had for a decade. I went to Reddit as many do. Started looking at different brands. One that rhymes with Lerman Niller seemed nice but YIKES the price tag. I'm very glad I found Branch. I'm 6'3" and this chair is great for me. It has wonderful adjustments and the color (yellow) brings me at least 2% more joy than a boring black one would have. I must say the only negative is the headrest doesn't really work for me at my size. When I do attempt to rest on it, it also collapses...so maybe skip that if you're a fellow tall. It's early, but so far I love this chair. It's so comfortable and a great size for me. It seemed pricey, but comparing to other options, it feels like a great investment at a respectable price. I mean, it's the piece of furniture I use most (sadly?).

I had high hopes….

After reading many reviews, some from websites I generally trust, I took the plunge and purchased the Ergonomic Chair Pro with the leather option. When the chair arrived, I was initially struck by the strange quality of the leather. It felt artificial with a matte dry appearance and virtually no “smell” of the semi-aniline leather I am used to. Indeed, as I was told later, this is a very low grade of leather called “corrected grain leather” that is of such a poor quality that it is heavily sanded and subsequently imprinted with a leather-like pattern. Sadd. I decided to put the chair together and give it a real-world test. I was immediately shocked by the short seat. It only came to mid-thigh and was noticeably uncomfortable. When I wanted to tilt the chair back I was met with significant resistance, with the chair trying to push me back to the upright position. I also noticed that when reclining, only the chair back moved as opposed to the entire chair. The arms seemed flimsy and were easily knocked out of position with lateral movement. I don’t need a chair that possessed so many fine adjustments but the above basic functions seemed to be sorely lacking. I had a pleasant experience with customer service (that was so pleasant I feel certain it was an AI generated discussion) and that’s ok. I will be packing the chair up and returning it when I return from vacation on 7/26. I should tell you that i am replacing a $2000 Global chair that I loved for 15 years but the upholstery is too damaged to rehabilitate. I hope this satisfies your inquiry.

Largely what I was looking for

My previous office chair was a loan from my previous employer from WFH during COVID. Switching jobs, I needed a new chair. Enter the Ergo Chair Pro. I was able to test it in-store before buying, which was helpful but a few weeks with it have taught me some more things. Firstly, I'll start with why I got this one: It has many armrest adjustments, a mesh back, a great warranty, and a low price. Without AC, my apartment can get hot, and a mesh-back chair is helpful at those times. I also find that I often like to reposition the armrests based on what I am doing: Desk work, gaming, sitting cross-legged (quite possible with this chair), etc. So what have I learned? My previous chair was able to tilt back with the backrest and seat locked together. Think of how you'd lean back in a dining table chair, but with a lot less risk of falling backward. I really liked that tilt mechanism. Unfortunately, this chair doesn't really allow that. The backrest is either locked to the seat, and doesn't tilt back, or it's unlocked and tilts while the seat remains mostly the same. I never realized just how much I appreciated the whole-seat tilt of my previous chair until I was stuck with backrest-only tilting. That said, it's not the worst thing in the world. Other than that, the chair is quite nice and comfortable. Regarding assembly, while the process is pretty easy, the design choices and hardware selection are... less than inspiring. Specifically, there are two fasteners that are simply occluded during installation, so it's a pain to access them. This didn't need to be the case. Also, the provided fasteners feel like they are made of a mystery metal melange. Forget Class 8.8, zinc-Cr3+ coated or anything that might inspire confidence, these fasteners come coated in a light oil and have an oddly dark-brown color to them. I can't say I've ever seen that color on quality fasteners before, and while I don't expect that these will suddenly break on me, the fact that the hex socket in the head had a tenuous grasp on the included installation tool left me considering whether I should just order equivalent fasteners from somewhere I trust. Seriously, be careful, these screw heads will strip with practically no effort. Not a quality I want from fasteners. Anyway, once assembled, the chair is legitimately a great option, especially for its price point and with its warranty.
