NRS Hydroskin Socks
I use these socks to replace the 3mm neoprene wading socks that are made for fishing. I use them in the winter months for bicycling. My weekly distance ride is usually between 50 to 65 miles. The winter weather dips into the low 20 degree range on my morning starts. I wear a thin wool liner sock with the NRS Hydroskin Socks next and a medium weight wicking sock on top. In the low 20’s I add a outer full shoe cover. NRS Hydroskin Socks keep my feet warmer than the the 3mm neoprene socks can. I am sold on the NRS Hydroskin Socks. I will be trying them out trout fishing this summer. I have used neoprene sock for outdoor sports (backpacking, fishing, biking) for years. So far, for bicycling, NRS Hydroskin Socks are the most effective of any wading sock I have tried. And, by far the lightest and most comfortable. I also use the NRS Hydroskin Gloves. I wear them next to skin. In colder weather (<30 deg) I add a heavier glove over them. My feet and hands may get very cool, but not severely cold. You have to experiment with sock/glove combinations to personally come up what combinations work with the temperatures and weather you will be facing. If questionable weather, carry a couple extra socks/gloves to add or try.
