SC Core

Not the holy grail of bike seats for me...

This saddle is well made and of high quality but... its not doing it for me. I have over 150 miles on it and have made numerous adjustments to make it work but it still is lacking in being my best bike seat. I have bought numerous seats over the years and am still looking for the perfect one. I wanted this to be it. After all it has the BASF system and should be somewhat cushiony but it really isn't. I knew from buying it that I couldn't return it but I bought the hype on this seat. Apparently with the Ergon policy they want you to believe in the hype more than they do. I have to continue to figure this out or add another seat to the fold. What I think would help this seat is removing the top plastic layer that fits between the BASF and the top cushion. They have done this with the SR Road seats but you can't trade it in for one of those. This would make it more comfortable as you can see from reviews on those. Oh well the search continues.... I bought it because it was the recommended seat. Maybe it will work for you.

Great but with a major flaw

I really wanted to love this seat, as it seems like a great design and excellent build quality. I am a tall slim man with bony sit bones, and thus struggle to find a comfortable bike seat. After a while of riding on the SC Core Prime, the top gel layer of the seat no longer provides enough cushioning to prevent painful contact between the sit bones and the plastic shell that sits between the 2 layers. It seems like some better engineering is required to prevent people with bonier sit bones from contacting this hard layer. Perhaps if this middle shell was somehow removed or softer, the sit bones would better receive the cushioning of the core layer.

SC Core Prime - Terrific seat

I purchased two SC Core Prime seats to upgrade my e-Tandem bike. They replaced the Selle Royal seats that came with the bike. What a difference! So much more comfortable. The seat is just firm enough and gives a little side-to-side to move with you. We use the bike for moderate weekend rides. Highly recommended. Well worth the cost.
