A Double Century Dream

I previously purchased the Detour as my primary light winter commuting and double-century rides that start before sunrise or finish after sunset. When I recently checked back in on Outbound Lighting, I was surprised to see the Blade had been released. After looking at the runtime specs, I ordered one almost immediately. I've now had the Blade for over a month, and it has performed flawlessly. I paired it with a MagCAD Garmin Varia Trek Integrated Seat Post mount on my 3rd-generation Trek Domane and I couldn't be happier with the setup. The Blade has eliminated the need to carry a pair of Trek Flare RTs on my double-century rides. I simply set it to daytime flash mode and forget about it. Most recently, I used the Blade during the Eastern Sierra Double Century. After nearly 13 hours on the bike, the charge indicator still showed 3/4 charge remaining. Since I've only owned the Blade for about a month, I haven't had many opportunities to test it in twilight or nighttime conditions. I'm looking forward to seeing how the additional modes and down firing LED perform during my winter commutes. I'll plan to return and post a follow-up after a few winter commutes. I've already recommended the Blade to several riding buddies, and one of them has purchased one as well. If you're an endurance cyclist or regularly spend long days in the saddle, this light is absolutely worth considering.

I had extensive email interactions with Jason who recommended several solutions for my bike. One was the Blade rear light. On my second or third ride with it, the Blade inadvertently came off while riding. Jason was able to offer a replacement at no charge and suggested a specific tether to ensure it is unlikely to happen again. Great service and follow through. Thank you!

Excellent

After the first few rides, my feedback is excellent. Side visibility is really good. Mounting hardware (Garmin type) is easy, and secure. Really nice hardware. Really like the different modes. Compared to my last taillight (Night Rider) it is highly visible, but also doesn't blind other riders when riding behind me. All in all, really happy.
