Slow ‘N Sear® 18 inch Charcoal Basket

18" S&S Basket in 18" Jumbo Joe & 22" Jumbo Joe Premium

I resisted getting an 18" Slow 'N Sear Charcoal Basket for my Jumbo Joe for as long as I could hold out. Problem was whether it was somebody posting on FB about using one or one of the pit masters who regularly post on YouTube the basket seemed to never get less than glowing reviews, no pun intended. I used it on a few cooks in the Jumbo Joe before unexpectedly buying a barely used Jumbo Joe Premium which are 22" in diameter like an original kettle. I remember reading the 18" basket is perfectly fine to use in a 22. I've only done wings with it in the JJ Premium so far. It seemed easier to control and maintain temp by adjusting the vents and reading the temp gauge I mounted to the dome lid just below the vent than on the 18". Add me to the list, I'm sold on Slow 'N Sear Charcoal Baskets. Got a rack of ribs and a brisket in the fridge so those cooks are coming up.
