This is a really fantastic pair of headphones. I am upgrading from Sundara, driving from an Atom Stack 2 and have landed on a modified version of resolve's EQ. They sound alright out of the box, but if you are considering these, I STRONGLY encourage you to give EQ a shot. I know it seems silly to have to put in work to fine tune something after spending $1000 (and maybe it still is), but with some tuning you will have something very special. Resolves EQ is an excellent place to start, I included a photo of my EQ profile too as I think it makes it easier to approach with multiple starting points. I will offer my comparison to the Sundara as someone who is still newer to the hobby. LCD2 has all of the strong foundations to build something that is perfect for you. Like the Sundara, it has excellent detail retrieval, to my ear slightly better imaging, soundstage and punch / slam. Sundara has great out of the box tuning and is a really excellent bang for the buck, but there were a couple things preventing me from really loving them that LCD2 solves. Sundara felt a bit too bright and clinical for me and got slightly fatiguing to listen to for long sessions, with and without EQ. It is very capable and accurate but just not as much fun. Overall, from a sound perspective the LCD2 gives me goosebumps more often than Sundara. Build quality and comfort absolutely blows Sundara out of the water. These feel like sinking into a super soft couch or recliner. Materials and finish are top notch. There is an odd pressure sensation because of the seal produced on your head but this is something I got used to after a while. They are heavy if you are sensitive to that, but the weight hasn’t bothered me one bit. Overall, very impressed and have been really enjoying these headphones!

Upgrading from LCD-2c (classic), believe it or not there is a HUGE improvement in instrument separation, placement, and bass response. I am guessing the fazor tech has something to do with this. At any rate, these headphones are amazing for any genre of music! They are especially sweet at Jazz and Pop/Rap and Electronic. Haven’t auditioned classical yet, but looking forward to it! Album used for review: Miles Davis: Kind of Blue, digital 192 format, Chord MoJo 2 DAC.

Truly amazing headphones. Coming from the hd 600, they feel a lot more accurate and huge. They handle metal and rock like nothing else I’ve ever heard. Everything feels huge and powerful. Timbre is great. I was listening to a song with cello, and the best way I could describe it is: it’s like being in a room with the instrument, your first thought is going to be how rich, full, and powerful it sounds. THEN you’d start to hear the air and details, so it’s very realistically powerful. The soundstage isn’t super far out, but it’s super deep and tall so everything feels MASSIVE. 10/10, get them if you listen to hard rock and metal most of the time, but also want something that can handle everything else well.
