Clear instructions but issues with the front fit

I didn't end up finishing these pants because the fit wasn't working for me. When I positioned the rise where it was intended to sit, there seemed to be too much fabric in the front, creating excess fullness when sitting. The front only looked smooth if I pulled the pants up much higher than intended. The pockets also formed an odd shape when sitting down. For my first attempt, I used a 255 g/m² light denim, which may have been too heavy for this pattern. However, I made a second version in a lighter fabric and experienced the same issue while sitting. On the positive side, the instructions were clear for the most part, and I learned a great deal from sewing this pattern. Even though the fit didn't work for me, it was still a valuable learning experience.

Donna Bermuda Shorts

I really enjoyed seeing these shorts. The pattern is super clear and concise! I wish all patterns were this clear. The little bit of elastic in the waist is perfect, doesn’t look bunchy. This is another pattern that Bella Loves Patterns has hit a home run. I will be making more of these!

Nice shorts

Although I struggled to sometimes understand the directions (American English?), this pattern makes a beautiful, nicely fitted pair of shorts at a good length for me. Making a muslin helped me improve the 2nd pair for wearing, and I have a new pair of sleep shorts. The belt loops were too short, so I must have done something wrong in cutting them. I have been sewing for many years and am now able to refine my skills - such a great finished product AND a free pattern. Thank you!
