Best e-stat under a grand?

I prefer SR-X1 over my L500 for two reasons: 1. improved build quality - L500 plastic chassis creaks and the headband gimbals are flimsy - however, I must note that the earpads are quite small on SR-X1 so may be a deal breaker for some. I made a pad adapter for larger pads (see pics) 2. improved sound quality - less 1kHz peak on SR-X1 - without EQ - SR-X1 is the winner.
