Meze Hybrid Leather/Alcantara ear pads

I find the Hybrid Leather/Alcantara ear pads have more bass than the Angled Alcantara pads, and sound warmer, but loose some of the mid range detail presented by the Angled Alcantara pads.

These pads are expensive, but insanely high quality and the magnetic retention system is incredible. They definitely boost bass, which sounds GREAT on the Meze elite, but can be a bit too much for the original empyrean which is tuned more bassy from the start. For the original empy, I would get the angled alcantara’s, as they preserve bass, improve clarity, and remove the veil - making them the perfect all-around fun headphone for musical enjoyment with no fatigue. If you liked the original empyrean and felt that the bass was lacking on the elite, these may be the answer for you! To me, the elite with the duo pads are pretty much the best headphones ever made.

Duo Meze Pads

Great ear pads, they really make the bass more poppy while reducing the soundstage a little bit. I don't find them as fatiguing as the full leather pads.
