A very good option for lefties, close to perfect
First of all, I am very happy with this desk so far. It's been just under a week that I have been using it, so there might be some changes, but for now, this review will give you a good sense.
Set up was fairly easy and the parts are all easily identifiable or labelled. There are extra screws which is appreciated. The instructions are very good, but I would suggest adding a note before step 5 reminding that screws should not be tightend until after step 6. There is a note about this before step 1, but it's almost implied that this is only for steps 1 and 2. That's not the case.
I really like the number of cord wranglers that they include and would have even piad extra for the magnetic ones.
The surge protector shelf/case is a nice option, though you will have to find a specific size to fit the strip and make sure that the plugs will have clearance to fit in. I did have to get a new one, but that was fine.
This raises and lowers easily. At full height, it will shake, but it doesn't wobbie, so I would say that this is rather study. I don't keep much on this (laptop, external monitor with arm, external drive, keyboard, mouse) so I am not taxing the weight limit.
My office is designed for a certain aesthetic, and I was concerned that this would look too modern, but that's not the case at all. The dark silver legs visually vanish and the walnut top matches the wood in my office. And, because the surface is so large and not just a simple shape, I am really able to better organize my desk.
Now, why am I taking off a star? It's a bunch of smaller things that added up to one star. First, this arrived in two boxes and they arrived days apart, and I couldn't even start assembling with the one that arrived first. Not a huge deal and likely not the fault of EE, shipping has been weird in the last 6 months.
The desktop is actually three pieces, and while it is "okay" I am already noticing wear where the three corners meet. They provide was they call a "mouse pad", it's very large pad that covers almost one half of the main desktop, and it can cover one of the seams in the middle of the table top. My pad came with a large indentation in it that is very noticeable, as well there is a sizable logo on the pad and I don't love that.
There is also branding on both legs. I use this in my home office and I don't want advertisements on my furniture. At least they are small, unlike in the photos which have them covering the entire legs and I assumed that were just for watermarking or the like.
This was packaged very well and the corners were protected. I think I will use this as long as it looks good, but I do think the top will eventually start to show some wear and start catching on clothing at the meeting area of the three corners. If/when that happens, I will get a single piece of wood for the top and use the base because it does work work.
