The upgrade stand alone tent
I wanted a backpacking tent to be a stand alone (poles) but with lower weight. This one delivers at 28 oz. It did not come with a ground sheet or tent pegs, so I borrowed those from another tent I owned. It rained the first night I set it up, no problems in the bathtub floor. It's tight space but there is some room in the vestibule and at the foot of the tent (I'm 5 foot 10 inches). I could get in and out easily through the door and sit up in the tent without hitting the sides. It is single wall, but there are vents at the top and mesh along the bathtub floor, so no real issues with condensation when I used it. I have my upgraded backpacking tent now.

A Step Above Many of the Others
I've tried a crazy lot of different tents over the last two years. I've been experimenting with ultralight trekking pole tents and have had an okay experience with everything. I've used a lot of the different lightweight, niche market brands. When it comes down to it; HMG products are just a notch above other manufacturers in regards to quality and detail to attention.
When it comes down to it, the CrossPeak 1 has become my go-to for backpacking trips when my wife doesn't go with me. After using trekking pole tents, I've come to appreciate that the CrossPeak is freestanding. The poles feel very durable and are very short. The tent feels spacious for a one person. I do like the dyneema, single wall material. Overall, it has just been my favorite!
