beautiful quality but small openings

I really love Dynamic Frames and have purchased many of them in the past (and give all of those 5 star rating), but have never purchased or had one with multiple openings. I purchased this 7 photo display as a gift and the recipient shared with me that she's disappointed that the mat covers the pictures so much. After seeing it I have to agree. The mat openings are too small and crop the pictures more than a typical mat does so the pictures don't look as good in it as we had hoped. I suggested that she not use the mat and create a collaged look on the corkboard instead. I'm not sure if she will do that or want to return it.
