Monty paperbag style woven pants and shorts with ties (PDF)

I really like these pants, especially the width of the leg which is often much too wide for my short height. The pattern had great instructions and I'm really happy with the finished product. However, there are two things I didn't like about this pattern. First, I hate the paper bag style, which a year after purchasing looks very dated. I wish this had come with an alternative waistband for a more timeless style. I altered this by adapting the Poppy waistband. I compared both patterns and found that the Poppy's waist was about an inch wider, so I shortened the back piece. This wasn't perfect and next time I will spend more time getting the pieces to match up. The second problem was that the pocket bags were very deep. My fingers couldn't reach the bottom of the pocket. I shortened the length by .5" which was an easy fix.

first time of making a pair of paints

This is the first time I made a pair of pants and it worked out really nicely. Great pattern!
