Old-School Base
This is definitely a Golden Age base recreation (it seems like it would be a no-brainer for an old accord but for modern accords, I’d probably use this as a focus point and work my own formula around this as it is complex). Beautiful, floral, “je ne sais quoi”-type and a little ‘perfume-like’ on its own. Comment: the pink and purple clematis flowers we are all used to don’t smell much, so I was expecting this to be the fantasy base it is - and a beautiful one at that! There are a few clematis varieties that do smell, but this does not at all smell like those!!!

Beautiful fantasy base
At first sniff, I get Chanel No.5 with emphasis on Ylang Ylang. This is a perfume base that needs very little to embellish it but one still could. I utilized it in a formula I made with many ingredients and it pulls everything together. I'm continually impressed with Jamie's restorations of these Golden Age of Perfumery bases.
Bravo again, Mr. Frater.
