Opoponax 216 — the kind of material you don’t notice… until you do Some materials are obvious the second you smell them. Opoponax 216 isn’t one of those. Honestly, it’s easy to overlook at first—especially if you’re newer to perfumery. It doesn’t jump out, it doesn’t scream “use me.” But the more you work with it, the more you realize… this is the kind of material experienced perfumers quietly rely on all the time. Because what it really does is make everything else feel better. To me, it acts like a memory anchor in a formula. It adds this soft, warm presence that isn’t heavy, isn’t sticky, isn’t overly sweet—just… there. It gives a kind of depth that you don’t immediately identify, but you feel it. And more importantly, you remember it. There’s also this subtle vintage luxury vibe to it. Not old or powdery—just that polished, “this smells expensive” kind of undertone. Like something has been rounded off and finished properly. The best way I can describe it is: it’s like a mini perfume already built inside your perfume. It brings: warmth a gentle sweetness a bit of diffusion structure and that skin-hugging persistence that makes a scent linger And the interesting part is—it doesn’t need much. When you keep it low, it doesn’t take over. It just quietly fills in the gaps, smooths everything out, and makes the whole composition feel more complete. I’ve found that when it’s there, people don’t necessarily say “oh, that’s opoponax.” They just keep coming back to smell again. That’s kind of the magic of it. It’s not the star of the show— but it’s often the reason the fragrance stays with you.

Gorgeous, rich and sweet
A beautiful opoponax base. Sweet and vanillic but rich and complex.

Sweet Seduction
A sultry vanillic amber that makes demo formulas of modernized Jicky and Tabu addictive. (The classic Jicky reconstruction is beautiful as well.)
