Ergonomic excellence.

I've had this setup on my 2022 BMC Teammachine for about a week now and I'm really impressed with these bars. The first thing I noticed, after switching from the BMC ICS carbon cockpit, was the stiffness of the top section - not even a hint of flex but of course the drops have some like any good set of carbon bars. The BMC setup isn't soft by any means but these are just on another level entirely, it didn't translate into a harsher ride though to my surprise. Sure you get more feedback but it's not really jarring in any way, if anything it makes my bike feel more balanced as the bottom bracket stiffness on the BMC used to be noticeably greater than the front end. Maybe it's the 3K carbon weave, which is magnificent to look at, working its magic? Another benefit I've been rewarded with is the vastly improved hood position I'm able to set up, the BMC ICS has a sharp drop-off where the hoods clamp on and I couldn't get them level with the top section so my wrist would always be contacting the bars. Maybe it's comfortable for some people but it drove me insane, I finally have a smooth transition to the hoods and it's amazing - I've already done an Imperial century and stayed comfortable the whole ride. The cable routing is also way easier than the BMC ICS, I didn't even need a cable router just a small pair of needle nose pliers to pull the cables through the second opening. The ACR spacers also route the cables in a better way so there is no longer any noise inside the head tube from the cables contacting the frame. I'm new to wrapping bars with a flat top section so there was a bit of a learning curve there trying to end the wrap so close to the 90° bend but it's not too difficult and even the shortest roll of bar tape is plenty long now. If I was looking for something to complain about it would be the computer mount, not the greatest quality and a bit flexy but it does the job and it comes with the bars so it's unreasonable to complain about it really. Once an aftermarket option becomes available I will upgrade it but for now it's fine. I bought these for the improved ergonomics and stiffness and certainly have not been disappointed, I'm sure they are more aerodynamic than the BMC setup but, as much as I hate to admit it, I'm not fast enough to notice.
