Kaviso x QSP Penguin Plus Titanium Frame Lock with S35VN

Nice knife just has some QC issues that ruin it.

After a lot of research I settled on the Kaviso exclusive due to reviews I had seen and read. It shipped the day I ordered it. It arrived and it’s a nice knife it just has some very noticeable QC problems. The lock side scales were not finished properly. There are a couple of raised areas on the scale along the edges that weren’t finished properly. It’s pretty disappointing considering the cost of this. The closing action is pretty gritty. It may need a break in but I expected better action. Now that being said it’s a great knife otherwise. Very solid feeling. The purple anodized titanium hardware is really nice and of course the mokuti clip is beautiful. Centering is perfect. Solid lock up with no blade play, no pivot or detent lash. But the QC is noticeably lacking. It’s so bad it ruins what would otherwise be a perfect knife. The blade also came lightly scratched up on the right side in several areas and I’m wondering now if this was used and returned. I keep examining this knife and finding more issues and having to update my review. Honestly if the QC issues weren’t there this would be 5 stars. Kaviso’s fast service gets 5 stars however. Sadly I’ll be returning this. My first and last QSP.

Amazing!

I have other QSP Penguins. This one has a feel and action far superior to those. Skiff bushings put it over the top but the detent and feel are so refined. Chef's kiss!

Flipper

I really like this model, and I like it more with the flipper tab! Clean snappy action and perfectly tuned detent.
